Paris – Gabriel Attal, the former Prime Minister of France and current Secretary General of the Renaissance Party, along with Valérie Hayer, President of the Renew group in the European Parliament, brought together centrist leaders from 21 countries in Paris.
Notable attendees included German MEP Svenja Hahn, who leads the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats in Europe (ALDE), Sandro Gozi, Secretary General of the European Democratic Party (PDE), as well as former Bulgarian Prime Minister Nicolaï Denkof, former Belgian Prime Minister Sophie Wilmès, and Szymon Holownia, President of the Polish Parliament.
During a press conference, Gabriel Attal emphasized that the summit represents “a significant step towards a genuine alliance of liberal democracies and the parties that champion them.”
In light of the “reactionary forces that threaten our values today,” he stated, “we must achieve something challenging, perhaps unprecedented for many liberal democracies: to assert our own strength” and “chart our own course without relying on others.” (March 24, 2025)
