EU Leaders Gather Again in Brussels to Discuss Defense and Ukraine
European Union leaders are meeting once more in Brussels, continuing a frequent pattern of high-level discussions.
As in previous meetings earlier this month and during their retreat in February, defense spending remains a key issue. Ukraine will once again be the primary focus, as the bloc seeks to reinforce its commitment to Kyiv amid waning interest from the Trump administration.
Beyond Ukraine, the agenda includes a range of topics such as economic competitiveness, the Middle East, and energy policy. However, the broader objective of the summit is to secure funding and establish policies that will strengthen the EU’s military capabilities.
Given the extensive discussions ahead, European Council President António Costa has cautioned leaders that the meeting may extend over two days.
