Bratislava – Slovak Republic President Peter Pellegrini emphasized the importance of Slovakia’s voice within the European Union (EU) during a recent informal meeting with ambassadors from EU member states at the Presidential Palace in Bratislava. The President’s Office communicated these remarks to TASR.

Pellegrini asserted that for the EU to assert itself as a significant global player, it must establish clear priorities and actively work to achieve them. “We all have a formidable challenge ahead to enhance the European Union’s economic competitiveness, ensure energy security, and cultivate independent thinking in international politics and the economy,” he remarked.

He also highlighted his vision and values for his presidency, stating, “While we will strive to be a dependable and constructive partner, I will never endorse policies or visions that conflict with the national interests of Slovakia.” (November 20).
