Zelenskyy Recruits Top European Leaders for Monday’s Trump Discussions

“At the request of President Zelenskyy, I will join the meeting with President Trump and other European leaders in the White House tomorrow,” von der Leyen stated, before hosting the Ukrainian leader in Brussels for a virtual summit of the Coalition of the Willing, a group of European countries advocating continued support for Kyiv.

Stefan Kornelius, spokesman for the German government, said the purpose of Monday’s Oval Office visit “is to exchange information with … Trump following his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska.”

“Chancellor Merz will discuss the status of peace efforts with the heads of state and government and emphasize Germany’s interest in a quick peace agreement in Ukraine,” the spokesman added.

The meeting was organized by Trump after his talks with Putin in Alaska on Friday, where he mentioned that the two sides had reached consensus “on many points” but did not provide a detailed peace plan. A meeting originally intended to be bilateral with Zelenskyy has been portrayed by the U.S. administration as a possible precursor to a three-way negotiation involving Putin.

Diplomats informed POLITICO on Saturday that they anticipate European leaders accompanying Zelenskyy to ensure crucial boundaries are respected and that Ukraine is not compelled to relinquish territory as part of a deal.

Trump invited Zelenskyy to the White House after a meeting with Putin in Alaska on Friday did not yield any significant progress.

Seems like the only thing colder than the Alaskan air is the reception Zelenskyy might get at this “peace summit.” Just what we need, a reality TV star wrangling the top brass like it’s a game of chess—brilliant strategy, mate! 😏🧐

So, let me get this straight: we’ve got a meeting that’s basically a game of musical chairs, but with world leaders instead of kids, and the music is… well, let’s just say it’s a bit off-key. 🎶🇪🇺 Can’t wait to see how they “discuss” peace while playing nice with Putin—might as well serve tea and biscuits while they’re at it! ☕️🍪

Looks like Zelenskyy’s really pulling out all the stops for this chat with Trump—who knew a virtual summit could turn into a European leader’s reunion tour in D.C.? 😏 As if we needed more cooks in the kitchen, eh?

Oh, brilliant! Nothing says “peace talks” like a meeting where the agenda seems to be more about the photo op than actual solutions. 🍿 Can’t wait to see how that play unfolds!

Just when you thought diplomacy couldn’t get any more theatrical, here we are—Zelenskyy wrangling top Euro heads for a chat with Trump. Who needs a plot twist when you’ve got a geopolitical soap opera unfolding in the Oval Office? 🎭🇺🇸

Tomorrow’s meeting sounds like a real hoot, doesn’t it? 🤔 Nothing screams “peace negotiations” like a three-way chat with Trump and Putin — it’s like mixing fine wine with cheap beer, mate! 🍻

So, let me get this straight: a meeting in the Oval Office where Trump, Putin, and a bunch of European bigwigs are trying to solve Ukraine’s issues? Sounds like a recipe for a diplomatic dinner party gone horribly wrong. 🍽️😏

Looks like the European leaders are off to the White House for a chat with Trump—because nothing says “serious diplomacy” quite like a gathering of top brass after a fishing trip with Putin. 😂 Better bring the popcorn for this geopolitical soap opera! 🍿

Just what Europe needed—another diplomatic chat fest to discuss peace, while we all hold our breath hoping it doesn’t end with a game of musical chairs and a round of “who’s territory is it anyway?” 😏💼

Oh joy, nothing screams “serious diplomacy” like a bunch of leaders flying in to have a chat with Trump right after a fishing trip with Putin. Can’t wait for the “quick peace” that’s about as probable as finding a decent cup of tea in a pub in Berlin! ☕️🇩🇪

Oh great, nothing like a little Euro-summit at the White House to tackle world peace – because who doesn’t want to mix politics, popcorn, and a dash of unpredictable Tweets? 🍿🤷‍♂️

Looks like Zelenskyy’s got the whole European VIP club in tow for a chat with Trump. I mean, who wouldn’t want to attend a gathering where the agenda is as clear as a London fog? 😂
