Worker Injured at H.Essers Genk Site; Limburg Prosecutor Launches Investigation

Genk (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – A man was seriously injured at the H.Essers site in Genk with a severe leg fracture. The Limburg public prosecutor is investigating the cause, and the work area remains closed.

As VRT News reported, a man was seriously injured in an industrial accident at the H.Essers site on Transportlaan in Genk. Emergency crews reached the area quickly and found the victim with a severe leg fracture. He received medical care on the spot before being taken to the hospital. Doctors later confirmed that the man’s injuries are serious, but his life is not in danger.

What caused the latest worker accident at H.Essers Genk site?

The exact cause of the accident is still unknown. The incident happened in a busy section of the logistics company. The Limburg public prosecutor’s office has opened an investigation and is working with workplace safety inspectors. They will look at safety procedures, equipment conditions, and training records to see if all rules were followed.

In an earlier incident in 2021, at an H.Essers facility in Wilrijk, an employee suffered a fatal injury due to being struck by a forklift while loading cargo. In 2023, a contracted driver working for H.Essers died after sustaining serious thermal injuries from fire resulting from what appears to have been arson, in the vicinity of Heuvelland, Belgium.
