Willebroek Unveils New Mobility Hub at Train Station

Willebroek (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – Willebroek inaugurates a new mobility hub at its train station, offering seamless access to train, bus, bicycle, and shared transport options for commuters.

“For our residents who use public transport, this is really a step forward,”

Says Alderman for Mobility Marc De Laet (Iedereen 2830).

Willebroek, Belgium, unifies a number of bus stops that were dispersed around the area around the station with one mobility center..

“Our municipality needed this,”

Says mayor Eddy Bevers (N-VA).

“By bringing everything together, people can more easily transfer from train to bus or use shared bicycles and shared cars.”

In collaboration with De Lijn and the NMBS, the municipality was able to realize this project.

“Our residents can now use the bus and train even more,”

Says Bevers proudly.

“Also visually it is a very nice added value for our municipality,”

adds De Laet.

The mobility hub is already open, but not yet fully finished.

“We are going to expand it even further with, among other things, public toilets and a house where De Lijn drivers can go,” Bevers explains. “There will also be digital signs for passengers and a large bicycle parking area.”

What are the key features and benefits?

Transfers between various forms of transportation, including buses, trains, bicycles, and shared mobility services, will be considerably easier and more convenient thanks to the mobility hub.

Improved infrastructure is available at the location, such as designated drop-off areas, safe bicycle parking, and improved accessibility for those with limited mobility.

The mobility hub encourages greener travel and lessens traffic in the town center by making it simpler to combine walking, bicycling, and public transportation.

It is anticipated that the hub will improve locals’ everyday commutes, encourage the use of public transportation, and help create a more connected and sustainable Willebroek.

The hub’s launch has been hailed as a positive milestone for the community and a testament to Willebroek’s dedication to cutting-edge, eco-friendly, and user-friendly transportation options.

Just what Willebroek needed, a shiny new mobility hub to bring all those buses and bikes together—because clearly, it was too much hassle to walk a few extra meters before. 🚉🚌💨 Now if only they could design a hub for making trains actually run on time!

  2. A new mobility hub? Oh joy, just what we needed—another place to ponder life’s great mysteries while waiting for a bus that’s always late. 🚍💨 If only they could build a café next to it for all the existential crises!

Just what we needed—a fancy mobility hub to remind us how disorganized our transport system has been! 🤦‍♂️ I can already hear the trains and buses bumping into each other like it’s a game of bumper cars! 🚍🚆

Oh, so Willebroek finally decided to join the 21st century with a mobility hub? Can’t wait to see if it actually helps us hop from bus to train without needing a map and a guide! 🚉😂
