Willebroek to Invest €91M in Police, Fire Station, and Leisure Centre

Willebroek (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – Willebroek will invest €91M (2026–2031) in infrastructure, safety, leisure, business park, 155 social homes, swimming pool, and cultural centre. Mayor Eddy Bevers announces a tax cut to 7%.

As VRT News reported, the municipality of Willebroek, in the province of Antwerp, Belgium, will invest €91 million between 2026 and 2031. The funding will go to public infrastructure, community services, and projects to support local economic growth.

What will Willebroek’s €91M investment bring for police, fire, and leisure?

The projects include a new police station and a new fire station to improve safety and emergency response. The “De Schalk” leisure centre will also be completed.

“It will become a logistics hub where primarily low-skilled workers will be able to work,”

says Mayor Eddy Bevers (Team Eddy).

Willebroek will also build a new business park along the A12 motorway near the Carré to attract companies and create jobs. The municipality is looking for partners to develop a new swimming pool. A study is also underway for a new cultural centre to host arts, performances, and community events.

“Construction of that cultural centre won’t be until the next legislative term,”

says Bevers.

“There will also be 155 new social housing units, and many old ones will be renovated,”

says Bevers.

“And the supplementary municipal tax will be slightly reduced from 7.3% to 7% in 2030.”

Willebroek is a town in Antwerp with about 28,000 residents. The Willebroek Canal shaped its industry and trade for decades. In 2012, the municipality built a new modern administration building to improve public services. The town has a history of investing in infrastructure and urban renewal.

Investing €91M in police and leisure? Because nothing says “we care about safety” like a shiny new fire station next to the swimming pool! 😂 Just hope the lifeguards know how to put out a fire while saving a drowning cat! 🐱‍🚒

€91M in Willebroek? Wow, must be nice to splash that cash while giving us a tax cut that’s practically a round of drinks at the pub. 🥳 Cheers to “improved safety” and a leisure centre—can’t wait to see the locals enjoying all that while the police station’s just a stone’s throw away! 😂

So, Willebroek’s decided to throw €91M at a police station and a swimming pool—because nothing says “safety and community” quite like a splash pad next to the new firehouse! 🏊‍♂️😏

  5. Investing €91M in a new police station and fire station? Brilliant! Because nothing says ‘high-tech safety’ like a leisure centre and a tax cut to 7%—perfect for all those “low-skilled workers” out there! 😂💼

Looks like Willebroek’s going all in with €91M—just what every small town needs: a swanky new police station and a leisure centre to keep the locals entertained while they’re waiting for their social housing. 😏 Who knew public safety could be such a fun investment?

Right, because nothing says “progress” like a shiny new police station and leisure centre while we’re still figuring out how to live with a tax cut that barely lets us afford a decent beer. 🍺 #WillebroekWonderland

  16. Investing €91M in safety and leisure? Well, that’s one way to say “we’re too busy to fix the roads” 🤷‍♂️. Just wait until the swimming pool is built, then we can all swim in our own tax savings! 💸🏊‍♂️

Investing €91M to make Willebroek the “next big thing” sounds like a plan, but let’s see if the leisure centre can actually compete with our beloved cafés. 🍻 Meanwhile, a tax cut to 7%? I guess our wallets will have a little party while we wait for those social homes! 😂

Investing €91M in police, fire, and leisure? Looks like Willebroek’s trying to turn into the next Monaco… but without the sun or the glitter! 😂💸

  19. Investing €91M in Willebroek? Brilliant! Just what we need—another leisure centre while the police are probably still chasing after the last tax return! 😂💸

Investing €91M? Wow, looks like Willebroek is aiming for the “most ambitious leisure complex” award while keeping tax cuts tighter than my tie after a 5-course business lunch! 😂🏗️

  21. Investing €91M in a police station, fire station, and a leisure centre? Brilliant move, because nothing says “we’re safe” like a new swimming pool while the old shops are on fire! 😂💸
