Sweden’s Trade Minister Addresses Tariff Concerns: Europe Stands Firm

Stockholm – Following the recent tariff threats from US President Donald Trump, Sweden’s Minister for Foreign Trade, Benjamin Dousa, has assured that Europe will respond decisively.

“Europe will not yield,” Dousa stated in a written statement to TT.

“We seek to increase trade with the USA, not decrease it. However, if the USA opts against serious negotiations and instead chooses to escalate tensions, they will encounter a firm response from us,” he emphasized.

He criticized the USA for heightening tensions while the EU is eager to engage in meaningful dialogue and pledged that the Swedish government will work tirelessly to mitigate the effects of the trade conflict on Swedish jobs and the economy.

Trump’s announcement on Friday included a warning of imposing 50 percent tariffs on EU goods starting June 1, claiming that discussions with the union are “going nowhere.”

Oh joy, nothing like a good old tariff spat to spice up the week! 🇸🇪💼 I suppose we should all just gather ’round for a nice cup of tea while the grown-ups play geopolitical chess, eh? 🍵🧐

Oh brilliant, just what we needed—a trade Minister doubling as a diplomat! Who knew ‘firm response’ was code for “let’s have a nice cuppa and ignore the 50% tariffs”? 😂🍵

Oh, brilliant! So we’re all gearing up for a diplomatic tango while the US throws tariffs like confetti at a wedding. 🎉 If only they could trade those threats for a bit of common sense, eh? 😏

Looks like Benjamin Dousa’s taking the ‘firm response’ approach – must be the Swedish way of saying, “We’ll just keep smiling while we figure out how to avoid this mess, ja?” 😂 Just what we need, more tariffs to spice up our already complicated trade dish! 🍽️

Oh, brilliant! Just what we needed—a good old-fashioned trade spat to spice up our coffee breaks! 🍵 Let’s see how many tariffs it takes for the “land of the free” to realize they might just be shooting themselves in the foot… again. 🤷‍♂️

Oh, brilliant! Just what we needed—a trade minister channeling his inner Viking! 🤦‍♂️ If they’re so eager for “meaningful dialogue,” maybe they should just send Trump a nice postcard instead of playing hardball with tariffs.
