Slovenia Joins EU Initiative to Enhance Trade with Ukraine

Ljubljana – Slovenia is now among the ten EU member states engaged in initiatives to enhance trade with Ukraine. SID Bank has joined the Export Credit Guarantee Scheme InvestEU for Ukraine, as reported by the European Investment Bank (EIB). It is estimated that over 550 exporters will gain from this initiative.

The Export Credit Guarantee Scheme InvestEU for Ukraine is a collaborative effort between the European Commission and the European Investment Fund (EIF). This scheme allows national export credit agencies to offer guarantees to small and medium-sized enterprises, as well as mid-cap companies exporting to Ukraine. These national guarantees are backed by the EIF, which is part of the EIB group.

The initiative aims to boost exports from the EU to Ukraine, covering products like machinery, construction materials, and advanced technologies, in addition to vital services for Ukraine’s economy and its recovery following Russian aggression.

Through the EU Export Credit Guarantee Scheme for Ukraine, the participating national agencies have access to a total of 300 million euros in EIF guarantees. SID Bank will utilize 24 million euros from this guarantee pool.

“This underscores SID Bank’s dedication to assisting Slovenian exporters during challenging times. We strive to enhance economic connections and aid in Ukraine’s recovery while providing Slovenian businesses with new opportunities in a strategically vital market,” stated SID Bank’s CEO Borut Jamnik.
