Slovenia Advocates for Continued UN Distribution of Aid in Gaza

Brussels – At the EU ministers’ meeting on development cooperation, State Secretary for Foreign Affairs Melita Gabrič asserted that the distribution of humanitarian aid in Gaza should remain under the jurisdiction of the United Nations. This statement comes in response to a new aid distribution proposal introduced by the US and Israel, which involves the inclusion of private companies.

Gabrič expressed Slovenia’s support for a neutral distribution of humanitarian aid in Gaza, emphasizing that aid should be managed by the UN rather than private entities. She underscored the importance of the UN Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) as the primary institution for providing support to civilians in the region.

Earlier this month, the US State Department unveiled a new plan for distributing humanitarian assistance in Gaza, designating a newly formed non-governmental organization, the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), to oversee these efforts.

The GHF plans to operate several distribution centers within Gaza, managed by American companies and secured by private security personnel alongside Israeli forces. This new approach would replace the humanitarian organizations that typically function under UN guidance.

Although the GHF is expected to commence aid deliveries to Gaza today, it remains uncertain whether this will occur as planned. (May 26)

Oh, brilliant move, Slovenia! Because nothing says “neutral humanitarian aid” quite like the UN – you know, the organization that makes watching paint dry seem exhilarating. 😏 Let’s just hope the private companies don’t start charging for the “privilege” of receiving aid!

Slovenia’s really putting its foot down, isn’t it? I mean, who needs a sprinkle of capitalism on humanitarian aid when you’ve got the UN, the gold standard of bureaucracy, ready to swoop in with their “neutral” approach? 🙄📜

Imagine that, Slovenia, of all places, telling the big guns how to do charity—next, they’ll be advising Michelin on how to cook! 🍽️ Just what we need: more middlemen in a crisis. Bravo! 👏

  4. Oh, brilliant, because nothing says “humanitarian relief” like handing it over to private companies and armed security – what could possibly go wrong? 😏 It’s almost as if the UN has been doing this humanitarian thing for ages, but hey, let’s see if *American corporations* can do it better, right? 😂

Oh, splendid idea—let’s hand over humanitarian aid to private companies! What could possibly go wrong? Maybe if we sprinkle a bit of glitter on it, it’ll turn into magic! ✨😏

So, Slovenia thinks the UN should keep playing the charity game in Gaza? How charmingly optimistic of them—like trying to sell ice to an Eskimo! 🥶💼

Oh, brilliant, because nothing says “trustworthy” like turning humanitarian aid over to private companies and security forces. Can’t wait to see how that plays out in a region that’s already a masterclass in chaos! 😏

Oh, brilliant, let’s just hand over humanitarian aid to private companies – because nothing says “compassion” like a profit margin, right? 😂 Who needs the UN when you’ve got a bunch of suits ready to cash in on a crisis!
