Roxana Mînztatu: The New Hospital in Bistrița Demonstrates the Confidence Generated by European Funds for Such Projects

Bucharest – On Friday, the Executive Vice-President of the European Commission, Roxana Mînzatu, celebrated the completion of the first public hospital in Romania funded by European resources, located in Bistriţa. She emphasized that this investment demonstrates how European funds can lead to impactful projects within the country.

“I am thrilled to be part of this moment (…) It serves as a significant lesson for all of us, and it is essential for the European Union to recognize that investments from European public funds can foster such projects in Romania. I am confident, collaborating closely with the Minister of Health, Alexandru Rogobete, that by 2026 or 2027, we will witness many similar inaugurations,” stated Mînzatu.

The EC Vice-President commended the efforts of the Bistriţa-Năsăud authorities in bringing this project to fruition and highlighted the importance of individuals who can translate European funding into tangible initiatives for their communities, noting that “we are still in a very good funding context.”

Roxana Mînzatu encouraged authorities across all member states to emulate Bistriţa’s model and to begin preparing projects for the next European financial framework (2028-2034), starting with the necessary documentation, to access new funding promptly. (19.12.2025)

Looks like Bistrița just won the Euro jackpot with this shiny new hospital! I suppose the next step is to come up with a catchy slogan like “Sick? Just Euro-fund it!” 🤷‍♂️💸
