LONDON — U.K. Chancellor Rachel Reeves will present her second budget on November 26, as confirmed by the government on Wednesday.
Her recent adjustments to the public finances will be announced alongside fresh economic forecasts from independent watchdogs, which are anticipated to present a challenging scenario for the country’s leading finance minister.
Economic growth in Britain — a primary goal of the government — has been persistently slow, while the cost of government borrowing has been rising. With a stagnant economy, a self-imposed cap on borrowing for routine public spending, and a manifesto promise not to increase Britain’s three main taxes, Reeves has limited flexibility.
