Prince Andrew Relinquishes Royal Titles Amid Epstein Scandal

Prince Andrew has relinquished his titles, such as the Duke of York, due to mounting pressure from various scandals, including his alleged associations with deceased sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

“In talks with The King, along with my immediate and extended family, we have determined that the ongoing accusations against me are a distraction from His Majesty’s and the Royal Family’s work,” Andrew stated in a Friday evening announcement.

Andrew has come under significant scrutiny for his connection to Epstein — the American financier and convicted sex offender who operated a network that exploited and trafficked underage girls. He also faced criticism over a civil sexual-assault case filed in the U.S. by Virginia Giuffre, which was eventually resolved, as well as his involvement with an alleged Chinese spy.
