Polish Parliament to Host Seven Conferences During 2025 EU Council Presidency

Warsaw (Eurotoday) – Poland’s parliament will host seven inter-parliamentary conferences during its 2025 EU council presidency, focusing on EU security.

The Polish parliament will organize seven inter-parliamentary conferences during Poland’s presidency at the European Council. As reported by the Polish Press Agency, six of which will take place in Warsaw, notified the office of the country’s lower house of parliament.

The lower house of the Polish parliament, the Office of the Sejm, stated in a statement issued on 2 Jan 2025 that the enactment of the parliamentary extent of the presidency would be based on organizing and leading conferences as well as inter-parliamentary sessions involving national parliaments and the European Parliament.

From January 1 to June 30, 2026, the Sejm and Senate will be tasked with the organization of these occasions and will organize seven inter-parliamentary conferences. Six of them will be held in Warsaw and one in Brussels, at the EU Parliament. The agenda of these meetings includes talks on various aspects of the European Union’s security, as well as endeavors desired to bring the European Union closer to its citizens and help societies.

What is Poland’s focus during its EU presidency?

Poland took over the presidency of the Council of the European Union from Hungary on 1 January 2025, marking the country’s second term in office since it joined the EU in 2004. The official ceremony is to be held on 3 January in Warsaw. The motto for Poland’s six-month presidency is “Security, Europe!”. This includes external, internal, informational, economic, energy, food, and health security. The ongoing war in Ukraine and the increased strains at the Polish-Belarusian border have catapulted attention to the strengthening of European security mechanisms and defense.

Hosting seven conferences? Brilliant move, Poland! I mean, who doesn’t love a good chat about security while sipping overpriced coffee in the heart of Warsaw? ☕️🇵🇱

Oh great, seven conferences in Warsaw about security—because nothing screams “we care” like a bunch of politicians in suits talking while the rest of us are just trying to keep our sausages warm. 😂 Might as well throw in a few more sessions on how to properly brew a cup of coffee while we’re at it! ☕️
