Poland: Macron urges Nawrocki to persist in creating a “law-abiding” Europe

Paris – Emmanuel Macron urged the newly elected Polish president to enhance the relationship between Poland and France, inspired by the Treaty of Nancy signed in May. He emphasized the importance of building a robust, independent, and competitive Europe that upholds the rule of law in a message on X.

French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot also congratulated Mr. Nawrocki, encouraging the nationalist leader to collaborate with France and Germany to promote European sovereignty and strategic autonomy.

German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier echoed this sentiment, calling for close cooperation between Poland and Germany based on democratic principles and the rule of law.

The Polish president is known for his admiration of Donald Trump, having met with him at the White House shortly before the first electoral round. Many of his supporters advocate for increased sovereignty for Poland within the EU. (June 2, 2025)

Looks like Macron’s got a new buddy in Nawrocki. Who knew the secret to a “law-abiding” Europe was just a good ol’ chat over croissants and sausages? 🍷🥐

Oh, how lovely! Nothing screams “law-abiding Europe” like a Polish president who’s chummy with Trump. I suppose a bit of nationalist flair never hurt when you’re trying to chat up the French and Germans, right? 😂
