P. Stano: Slovakia’s EU Membership is Essential for the Nation and Its Citizens

Bratislava – On Friday, Slovak Republic President Peter Pellegrini welcomed Peter Stano for an introductory visit. Stano is the Head of the Representation of the European Commission (EC) in Slovakia, as reported on the EC Representation’s website by TASR.

Peter Stano highlighted during his meeting with President Peter Pellegrini the importance of Slovakia’s membership in the European Union (EU) for the nation and its citizens. He emphasized that EU membership ensures democratic principles, the rule of law, fundamental rights, and freedoms, while also fostering economic growth, improving living standards, and enhancing Slovakia’s standing in Europe and globally.

The EC Representation in Slovakia affirmed that it will maintain constructive and positive communication regarding the advantages and responsibilities of EU membership. It aims to support dialogue and mutual respect with officials, political parties, civil society, and the general public.

Peter Stano was appointed as the new Head of the Representation of the European Commission in Slovakia on October 16 this year. In this role, he will serve as the official representative of the European Commission in Slovakia under the political guidance of EC President Ursula von der Leyen. (19 December)
