The property developer announced his intent to generate sufficient financial backing to support Reform UK in its efforts to secure victory in the next election. The party, which gained five MPs and siphoned votes from both the Conservatives and Labour in July’s election, is now working to modernize and strengthen its operations.
This move represents yet another setback for the struggling center-right Conservatives, who find themselves in opposition after being decimated in July’s elections, leaving them with only 121 parliamentary seats. In a recent high-profile defection, former Tory MP Andrea Jenkyns joined Reform UK and will contest the Greater Lincolnshire mayoral race. Additionally, Rael Braverman, husband of ex-Conservative Home Secretary Suella Braverman, has also switched allegiance to Reform UK, taking on a role as a senior campaigner.
Earlier this year, the property magnate signaled his discontent with the Conservative Party ahead of the next general election. He suggested that it might be “time for a change” and spoke favorably of Labour leader Keir Starmer, describing him as “a decent man with good values and good morals.”
The businessman is married to Australian actress Holly Valance, a committed supporter of Reform UK. Valance has a history of political engagement, having previously hosted fundraising events for Donald Trump’s presidential campaign.
