Meta, the social media giant, continues to make notable moves in the tech and political realms, signaling its focus on fostering relationships and tackling emerging technologies.
Dana White, who recently received an appointment at Meta, expressed enthusiasm about his new role, writing on his Facebook page: “I'm excited to be a small part of the future of AI and emerging technologies.” This announcement underscores the company’s investment in advancing innovation in artificial intelligence and technology.
In a related development, Meta last week named Joel Kaplan, a former deputy chief of staff in President George W. Bush’s White House, as its chief global affairs officer. This strategic choice indicates Meta’s intent to strengthen ties with the incoming Trump administration.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has also taken steps to build political relationships. He met with former President Donald Trump at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida this past November. Additionally, Meta made headlines for contributing $1 million to Trump’s inauguration fund, further highlighting its political outreach efforts.
Beyond politics, Meta is also bolstering its board with prominent figures. Recent additions include John Elkann, CEO of the holding company Exor—which has stakes in global powerhouses like Stellantis and Ferrari—and Charlie Songhurst, a well-known tech investor. These appointments signal the company’s intention to enhance its leadership team as it navigates the rapidly evolving technology landscape.
