Marc & Cecile Close ‘t Smulhoekske After 35 Years in Nieuwrode

Nieuwrode (Eurotoday) – Marc and Cecile are closing ‘t Smulhoekske in Nieuwrode, Belgium, after nearly 35 years, mainly due to issues with Bompa Frit. They planned a celebration but had to cancel. Their famous ox tongue in Madeira sauce was highly loved. If the building doesn’t sell, they might reopen for 6 months before retiring.

Marc and Cecile, the owners of the popular chip shop ‘t Smulhoekske in Nieuwrode, municipality of Holsbeek, province of Flemish Brabant, Belgium, are closing their business. They mentioned that their last day open will be the day before Easter, and they will miss their 35th anniversary. They had planned a big party to thank their customers and even ordered special key rings to celebrate. But their plans changed, and now they are saying goodbye to their shop.

Why are Marc & Cecile closing ‘t Smulhoekske after 35 years?

Marc and Cecile are closing their chip shop because of problems with Bompa Frit. They said they would have kept the shop open if it wasn’t for these problems. They haven’t said exactly what the problems are, but they are big enough to make them close. Marc and Cecile are sad to close ‘t Smulhoekske. They have been serving their community for a long time.

Marc says, “It would be great if there was another chip shop after us. That’s what people want. We enjoyed it, and we still like doing it just as much.” Last year, the couple put the chip shop up for sale, but there is no buyer yet.”

According to the residents of Nieuwrode, they will miss more than just the famous fries from ‘t Smulhoekske. They will also miss the ox tongue in Madeira sauce, a special dish that many people loved.

Bompa Frit wanted to make the dish one last time for customers. Many people wanted to order it, so Bompa Frit would have been busy making it for 3 weeks. Cecile took down the order notice because it was too busy.

The chip shop might reopen for a short time. Marc said they might reopen if the building doesn’t sell.  They would only reopen for 6 months because they are retiring after that. Marc and Cecile are getting ready toblank”> close their shop.

Oh, what a tragedy! After 35 years of serving the finest ox tongue in Madeira sauce, it seems the only thing ‘t Smulhoekske will be frying now is a few dreams and regrets. 🍟🙈 Who knew Bompa Frit could be such a villain in this culinary soap opera?

Closing after 35 years? Sounds like they finally ran out of excuses to not serve the locals that ox tongue in Madeira sauce! 🤷‍♂️ Just when you think you’ve seen it all, Nieuwrode proves there’s always room for a dramatic chip shop finale! 🍟🥳
