Macron Announces Ban on Social Media for Under-15s in France

He revealed that France will soon require age verification on websites selling knives, similar to the current rules for pornographic sites.

“A 15-year-old will no longer be able to buy a knife online. We will enforce significant financial penalties and bans,” he stated. Previously, Prime Minister François Bayrou expressed intentions to rapidly outlaw knife sales to minors.

Later, on X, Macron declared: “I’m banning social media for children under 15. Platforms can verify age. Let’s implement it.”

French officials are advancing plans to mandate certain social media platforms — including X, Reddit, Bluesky, and Mastodon — to introduce age checks, classifying them as pornographic sites.

France’s regulations requiring porn sites to verify users’ ages took effect on June 7, leading Pornhub, the largest porn site, to cease operations in France. This triggered a rapid increase in demand for virtual private network services, which allow users to mask their location, immediately surged.

Typical Macron move, isn’t it? Next, he’ll be regulating how many croissants we can eat before lunch—can’t have the kids getting too wild with all that sugar! 🥐😏

Isn’t it just delightful to see our dear Macron turning the internet into a digital kindergarten? Can’t wait for the day when “age verification” becomes the new French pastime—right up there with wine tasting and complaining about the weather! 🍷😏

Oh, magnifique! Just what we needed, more red tape to make sure our teens can’t flex their skills on social media but can still order a knife with a few clicks. 👌🥖

Just what the world needs—another rule to keep the youth from experiencing the joys of modern life! 😂 Maybe soon they’ll need a permit to breathe too, non?

Looks like Macron’s found the secret recipe for a happy childhood: restrict social media and knife sales for the under-15s. Who needs virtual friends when you can just hang out with the good old-fashioned French law? 😂🔪

Looks like Macron’s got a solid plan to keep our teens safe from the horrors of social media while they’re busy figuring out how to use a corkscrew. 🍷 Next up: age checks for baguette purchases, I suppose? 😂

Just what we needed, a ban on social media for the under-15s—because clearly, a world without TikTok and Insta is the key to our youth’s success. 🍷 Next, we’ll be checking their IDs for a baguette! 🥖

Right, because what every teenager really needs is a French bureaucracy dictating their social life like it’s a Michelin star menu. 🥖 Next up: age checks for buying a baguette! 🍞
