In a Positive Atmosphere: The Šefčić-Greer Meeting on Tariffs

European Trade Commissioner Maroš Šefčovič and U.S. Trade Representative Jamison Greer met in Paris in a favorable environment. Following the meeting, Mr. Šefčovič shared on X that it was a “productive and constructive meeting” held during the Trade Ministerial.

“We are moving in the right direction at a good pace and keeping in close contact to sustain the momentum,” the Trade Commissioner noted, concerning ongoing tariff negotiations between the two parties.

According to a spokesperson for the European Commission on trade, discussions regarding tariffs have advanced to the document exchange phase, reflecting positive progress. This follows a phone conversation between European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and U.S. President Donald Trump. (4/6/25)

Oh, fantastic! Nothing says “productive” like a chat over croissants about tariffs—next, they’ll be discussing world peace over a baguette! 🍞😏

Looks like the only thing moving faster than those tariff discussions is the rate at which I’ll need to book a ticket to Paris for yet another round of “constructive” meetings. 🥴✈️ But hey, at least they’re keeping it lively while we’re all waiting for actual results!

Looks like they had a right ol’ chinwag in Paris—bet the croissants were the real winners here! 🍩 Nothing like a bit of tariff talk to spice up the baguettes, eh?

Lovely to see our top brass chit-chatting in Paris while the rest of us are stuck in the daily grind. Honestly, could they make tariff talks sound any more riveting? 😂🤑

Looks like our trade reps had a lovely café chat in Paris – because nothing says “serious negotiations” quite like croissants and a good old chinwag over tariffs. 🍵💼

A “productive and constructive meeting” in the City of Light? Must be the Eiffel Tower giving them good vibes, or maybe just the wine talking. 🍷💼 Can’t wait to see how this “close contact” turns out; will it be a love letter or just a tax bill? 😏

Oh, how lovely, a meeting in Paris about tariffs – nothing screams romance like trade negotiations! Can’t wait for the next chapter of this riveting saga; maybe they’ll even exchange business cards over a croissant! 🥐💼
