The Constitutional Court of Albania has unveiled the second volume of its Jurisprudence Guide, attended by prominent state officials.
Holta Zaçe, Chairwoman of the Constitutional Court, highlighted that this is the first instance where the complete jurisprudence of the court is presented in a structured and detailed manner, facilitating a better understanding and application of constitutional principles and standards.
Zaçe noted that the decisions made by the Constitutional Court are obligatory and their enforcement is a constitutional duty for all branches of power.
She stated, “Constitutionality as a way of being and acting is our sole passport on the road to integration into a united Europe.”
Silvio Gonzato, Ambassador of the European Union Delegation in Albania, acknowledged that the justice administered by the courts will significantly aid Albania’s journey towards EU membership.
Gonzato stressed the necessity for justice to be evident and palpable for the populace.
“Final decisions must adhere to standards and foster trust, creating connections between courts and establishing a common language for these institutions. Justice should not only be rendered; citizens must perceive it, comprehend it, and trust it,” he remarked.
He emphasized that this approach will ensure that “EU membership is regarded as a transformative opportunity.”
Gonzato further pointed out that the Constitutional Court has developed a profound and intricate body of jurisprudence that safeguards fundamental rights and aids in justice reform.
Consequently, he noted, this guide is significant as it provides a robust response to challenges, offering a practical foundation for ongoing judicial education,” concluded Gonzato. (July 14)
