Berlin (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius stated in an interview with Handelsblatt on Sunday that by 2029, Russia will have rebuilt its armed forces to the point where it could attack NATO territory.
He observed that because of this possibility, countries should not merely “hope for a best-case scenario,” but also prepare for “the worst-case scenario.” Discussing the current situation, Pistorius compared it to the Cold War, noting that while no shots are fired, there are some provocations.
Regarding the recent drone incursions across Europe, he emphasised that Moscow is responsible, stating,
“no one else has an interest in sending large numbers of drones to Denmark or Poland.”
Pistorius emphasised that people in Germany should remain calm regarding drone sightings.
“The Bundeswehr cannot be everywhere in Germany where drones appear and take them down,”
He remarked.
How united is NATO amid Russia’s growing military power?
Germany’s chief of defence stated two months ago that members of the Western alliance, NATO, should prepare for a potential Russian attack within the next four years. General Carsten Breuer said that Russia produces hundreds of tanks annually, with many potentially capable of being used in an attack on NATO Baltic states by 2029 or sooner.
He also emphasised that NATO, the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation, stays united regarding the war in Ukraine, even though Hungary and Slovakia have recently expressed differing views.
What concerns arise from russian drones near German airports?
A few days ago, Germany had several suspected incidents of Russian drones entering its airspace, notably in the vicinity of critical infrastructure and airports, including Munich Airport. As a consequence of these drone sightings

Looks like Boris is keeping the Cold War spirit alive—who knew we’d need a time machine to deal with the same old dance? 🤷♂️ Maybe the Bundeswehr should put a “no-fly zone” sign on their coffee breaks! ☕️🛩️

Seems like Boris is really on top of his game, eh? By 2029, we’ll be knee-deep in tanks and drones while trying to figure out if we can still enjoy a peaceful schnitzel – talk about a real “best-case scenario”! 🤷♂️🍺
-
Looks like Boris is having a bit of a déjà vu moment with the Cold War—nothing says “peaceful times” like fearing an old foe with a new set of toys! 🥴 Just what we need, a friendly reminder to keep our helmets polished for 2029. Cheers! 🍻

Isn’t it adorable how our defense minister thinks we’ll need to worry about Russian tanks by 2029? I mean, why not just add “buy more tinned beans” to the emergency plan while we’re at it? 😂
-
Seems like Boris has been reading too many spy novels—2029 is just around the corner, and here we are, still waiting for our coffee to brew! ☕️ Who knew preparing for a possible attack would be the new corporate team-building exercise? 😂

Just what we need, another politician giving us a five-year heads-up on potential doom. Maybe Boris should start charging for his predictions — it’s a booming market for crystal ball gazing these days! 😏💼
-
Seems like Boris is getting a bit too cozy with the Cold War nostalgia, eh? Maybe if he focuses less on ‘prepping for worst-case scenarios’ and more on actually doing something, we might just avoid that 2029 showdown! 😏

Nothing like a solid warning from the German Defence Minister to spice up our morning coffee. By 2029, we might need to add “defensive posture” to our brunch menu, eh? 😏🥐
-
So, Boris is essentially saying “let’s prepare for a party we hope won’t happen” while the Russian bears are sharpening their claws. Classic German efficiency, eh? 🤔🍺

Seems like Boris is really keeping the chill vibes alive while prepping for a Russian invasion – classic German efficiency, eh? 🤷♂️ Maybe we should all invest in drones instead of umbrellas for 2029! 🕊️

Seems like Boris is trying to keep us on our toes; I mean, who doesn’t love a good game of geopolitical chess with a side of drones? 🤷♂️ At this rate, we might as well start selling popcorn at the Bundeswehr! 🍿
-
Another day, another “we might get attacked by 2029” warning from our dear Defence Minister. At this rate, I suggest we set up a nice little café in the bunker—at least we can enjoy the espresso while we wait! ☕️😂
-
Isn’t it just peachy that by 2029, we’ll have to brace ourselves for a Russian surprise party at NATO’s doorstep? 🇷🇺🎈 Better start stockpiling the sauerkraut and schnitzels, just in case! 😂🍻
-
Imagine that, by 2029, a Russian attack is on the agenda – just what we need, more reasons to binge on black coffee and worry. 😅 Who knew the Cold War was just a rehearsal for the sequel?
-
If Boris thinks we should prep for a Russian attack by 2029, I suppose I should start stocking up on pickled herring and schnitzels—can’t fight a war on an empty stomach, right? 🍻

Looks like Boris has been binge-watching too many Cold War flicks. I mean, with all this drone drama, maybe we should just hand out popcorn at the NATO meetings and wait for 2029 to roll around. 🍿😏
