On Tuesday, Israel targeted senior Hamas officials in an attack announced by the Israel Defense Forces, with explosions reported in Doha, the capital of Qatar.

The IDF stated on X it “carried out a precise strike on the senior leadership of the Hamas terrorist organization,” though Doha wasn’t specifically mentioned. An Israeli official later confirmed the attack’s location to POLITICO.

This marks Israel’s first strike in the Gulf state, representing a significant increase in tensions in the Middle East. Social media footage shows smoke rising over Doha.
