Brussels (Eurotoday) – The President of the European Parliament and ministries of foreign affairs commemorate the victims of the Holodomor in Ukraine of 1932–1933.
Holodomor Memorial Day or blank” rel=”noopener”>Holodomor Remembrance Day is an annual remembrance of the victims of the Holodomor, the 1932–33 man-made starvation that killed millions in Ukraine, falling on the fourth Saturday of November. The day is also an official annual commemoration in Canada and is followed by Ukrainian diaspora communities in other nations.
President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola said that Europe
“joins the people of Ukraine to remember and pay tribute to the millions of victims of the Holodomor”.
Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani remembered the tragedy, stating,
“Today, my thoughts are with the victims of this genocide and the ongoing war in Ukraine”. “We remember the Holodomor – the deliberate starvation of over 6 million people in Ukraine between 1932 and 1933, orchestrated by Stalin,”
he noted.

Latvian Foreign Minister Baiba Braže emphasised that Latvia officially acknowledged the Holodomor as genocide in 2008. She stated that Russia is continuing the campaign it started 91 years ago,
“trying to erase the Ukrainian nation from the Earth”.
“Then via manmade famine, today with rockets, missiles, bombs, murders, rape, attacks on ports, energy facilities,”
Braže said.

Oh, look at our esteemed leaders lighting candles and mumbling a few solemn words while the real action is happening elsewhere—classic Euro theatre at its finest! 🎭 Maybe next time they can bring a gourmet meal to remember those who starved; at least it would be more on-brand! 😂

Isn’t it just lovely how European leaders gather to remember a tragedy while simultaneously debating who gets the last croissant at the summit? 🤔 Memorable indeed, if only their actions matched the eloquence.

Oh, how noble of them to remember a tragedy from the 1930s while they’re busy sorting out this century’s messes. Bravo, Europe! 🤦♂️ At this rate, we should all just send our condolences by post—perhaps with a nice bottle of wine to really seal the deal! 🍷

You know, it’s quite charming how our leaders gather every year to remember a tragedy like the Holodomor – a lovely reminder that they can stand in solidarity while doing very little to affect change. 🤔 Cheers to making speeches while the world spins! 🍷
