Inclusive education ensures that every child has the necessary space and support to learn and thrive.
This principle is central to the “EU4InclusiveTeaching” initiative in Albania, funded by the European Union to enhance pre-university education, launched in 2022 with a budget of 2.3 million euros.
The outcomes achieved thus far were addressed at the “Stories of Inclusion” event, which also expanded on the journey and successes of “EU4InclusiveTeaching.”
The project aims to improve education in Albania by investing in teachers, support services, and the educational system itself, establishing sustainable foundations for long-term inclusion.
As part of this initiative, 15,000 teachers have received training in inclusive teaching; 348 trainers have been certified to promote this approach nationwide; 550 psycho-social cabinets have been equipped with modern facilities; and two special schools have been converted into National Resource Centers.
Over 135,000 children have directly benefited from more inclusive learning practices enabled by the project.
The European Union, alongside Albanian partners and institutions, continues to advocate for an education system where no one is excluded, adhering to European standards and the integration process priorities. (23 December)
