Brussels – Sweden’s plans for utilizing funds from the EU’s extensive coronavirus recovery fund, known as the RRF, have received approval from EU member states.
This decision was reached during a meeting of finance ministers from EU countries held in Brussels on Tuesday. As a result, Sweden will have access to approximately 40 billion Swedish kronor, with the initial disbursements anticipated to begin early next year.
“This is a significant announcement that benefits Sweden. We have contributed to this fund, and now we’re seeing some of that money returned,” stated financial market minister Niklas Wykman, who represented Sweden at the meeting.
The coronavirus recovery fund was established through collective borrowing to assist EU nations in revitalizing their economies following the pandemic years of 2020 to 2022.
