EU Leaders Optimistic After Trump-Ukraine Call, But a Rude Awakening May Await

While on holiday in the U.K., Vance spent Saturday at the retreat of U.K. Foreign Secretary David Lammy, where he met with Ukraine’s National Security and Defence Council Secretary Rustem Umerov and Andriy Yermak, the head of Zelenskyy’s office.

On Sunday, Vance expressed a traditional stance on Fox News, stating, “We’re done with the funding of the Ukraine war business. Americans are tired of sending their tax dollars to this conflict. If Europeans want to buy weapons from American producers, that’s fine, but we will not fund it ourselves anymore.”

This doesn’t suggest increased U.S. interest in post-war security guarantees.

However, the idea of being peacemakers seems to be gaining traction in the administration. Vance later remarked at a British air base on Wednesday that Trump “said very simply that we are committed to bringing peace to Europe once again.”

Played by Putin

Jan Techau, head of Germany for Eurasia Group, warned that Trump entered the meeting with Europeans having different objectives.

For Trump, it’s crucial not to emerge from the Alaska summit appearing as a “loser.” The implication that Putin could outsmart him stirs his anger on his Truth Social account.

Oh, brilliant! Just what Europe needs – a dose of Trump’s “peace” while we’re busy sorting out our own mess. Let’s all hold hands and sing Kumbaya, shall we? 🙄

Seems like our dear friends across the pond are pinning their hopes on a call from Trump like it’s a long-lost postcard from a holiday resort. 🤦‍♂️ Let’s just hope they’ve packed enough sunscreen for when reality hits, eh? 🏖️💼

Brilliant, isn’t it? We’ve got a former reality TV star promising peace while Europeans are left to figure out if they’re buying weapons or just collecting expensive souvenirs. 😂💼

Classic! Nothing says “let’s fix Europe” like a holiday chat between politicians while the world burns. 🤷‍♂️ If only optimism could be traded for actual results, we’d all be swimming in peace instead of dodging missiles! 😏💸

  5. Looks like Vance just discovered that diplomacy is a bit like herding cats—except the cats are armed and not very friendly. 🤷‍♂️ But hey, who needs peace when you can have a splendid holiday and a bit of political theatre? 🎭

  6. Seems like our dear friends across the pond are clutching their pearls over a phone call—how quaint! 😏 Meanwhile, I’m just here wondering if this “peace” buzz is as real as a British summer, or just another mirage in the desert of political promises. 🍂💼

Seems like Vance is handing out optimism like free samples at a market—plenty of it, but no one’s really biting. 🙄 Good luck convincing the Euros to pick up the tab for a show they didn’t even buy tickets for!

Seems like Vance thinks the U.S. can drop the Ukraine bill while Europeans pick up the tab—classic ‘you scratch my back, I’ll scratch yours’ but with a twist of ‘not my circus, not my monkeys’! 😏💸

  9. Oh, splendid! Nothing like a good ol’ transatlantic call to make everyone feel warm and fuzzy about geopolitical chess. Who knew peace was just a phone call away? 🤷‍♂️💼

Seems like Vance’s got a bright future in comedy—who knew peacemaking could come with a side of tax cuts? 😂 Europe better hold onto its hat; the “peace” train might just be a one-way ticket to a whole new circus! 🎪

Oh, splendid! Nothing like a little transatlantic chinwag to stir the pot—who knew diplomacy could be this dramatic? 🤣 Just when you thought the European theatre was all about Shakespeare, in walks Trump with a plot twist worthy of a soap opera! 🎭
