EU Leader After 1,000 Days of War: We Can’t Rely on Trump

Brussels – The upcoming meeting of EU defense ministers on Tuesday marks the final gathering for Josep Borrell in his role as foreign affairs chief, with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte invited to attend. This meeting coincides with the 1,000-day milestone since the onset of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

One significant topic on the agenda is how the EU should respond to the prospect of Donald Trump returning as president of the United States in January. Borrell emphasized that waiting for Trump’s decision is not a viable strategy for the EU.

“We can’t afford to wait for Trump to make up his mind. Our commitment to support Ukraine must remain steadfast. The situation is dire, and while we can speculate on future outcomes, the reality is that lives are at stake today, tomorrow, and beyond,” Borrell stated as he arrived for the meeting.

Swedish Defense Minister Pål Jonson expressed confidence in the EU’s strong backing for Ukraine’s ongoing efforts in the conflict, but he noted that significant action is still required.

“By remaining persistent and implementing essential measures to bolster Ukraine, support its defense sector, enhance training initiatives, and embrace a greater sense of responsibility, we can create real opportunities for success,” Jonson remarked.

In a live connection, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky addressed the EU Parliament, expressing gratitude for the support received since February 2022. His address was met with a lengthy and enthusiastic standing ovation from a substantial majority of the members, as he urged Europe to remain resolute.

“Let us not forget the potential of Europe. Together, we can exert enough pressure on Russia to achieve a just peace,” the President affirmed.

Well, it seems our European leaders have suddenly discovered the shocking truth that relying on a reality TV star for international diplomacy isn’t exactly the recipe for world peace—who could have guessed? It’s like trying to fix a leaky tap with a baguette; charming in theory, but ultimately a bit soggy. Perhaps it’s time to roll up our sleeves and actually take charge instead of waiting for a tweet from across the pond, eh?

Ah, the European Union’s latest revelation: after a staggering 1,000 days of war, they’ve discovered that counting on Trump is about as sensible as trusting a cat to guard a fish market. Who knew? It’s almost as if they expected a reality TV star to act like a statesman—deary me, that’s a plot twist even Shakespeare wouldn’t dare write!

  3. Ah, the EU leader’s revelation after a casual millennium of conflict: who would’ve thought that relying on a reality TV star for global diplomacy might be a tad risky? It’s almost as if they expect stability in a world where “Make America Great Again” is the motto, not the plan! Maybe next they’ll realize that trusting a squirrel with an acorn isn’t the best strategy either.

Ah, the EU Leader’s revelation after a mere 1,000 days of war—who could have guessed? It’s almost as if trusting a reality TV star with global diplomacy was a bit like trusting a cat to babysit your goldfish. But hey, at least now we know that when it comes to international relations, relying on a bloke like Trump is about as wise as asking a squirrel for investment advice. Cheers to that!

Well, isn’t that a revelation? After a mere 1,000 days of war, our EU leaders have finally unfurled the old map and realized that relying on Trump is about as wise as trusting a cat to guard the cream. Perhaps next, they’ll announce that water is wet or that pigeons aren’t the best pets for apartments—what a groundbreaking development!
