The newly constructed Leskovik-Ersekë road in southeastern Albania has significantly reduced travel time, cutting it from three hours to just one and a half hours. This improvement benefits not only the local residents but also the increasing number of visitors to the area.
The European Union Delegation in Tirana highlighted that this road, financed by the EU and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, plays a crucial role in enhancing tourism in southeastern Albania.
Hubert Perr, Head of Cooperation at the EU Delegation, stated, “The travel time for locals to reach Leskovik has been halved, improving accessibility and connectivity between these villages and the rest of Albania.”
During a meeting with Ersekë’s mayor, Erion Isai, they discussed the road’s positive impact on local daily life, tourism, and business development.
Local entrepreneur Leonard Konica noted, “The reconstruction of the Leskovik-Ersekë road has significantly boosted tourism in the region, benefiting those who live here.”
This new road not only shortens travel distances but also opens up new avenues for tourism growth in Albania.
Stretching 42.67 kilometers, the new road features a width of 5 meters, compared to the previous asphalt’s 4 meters.
The renovation of the Ersekë-Leskovik road aims to enhance regional connectivity and promote easier access to the tourist attractions in the Korçë and Gjirokastër regions, ultimately contributing to the expansion of tourism and fostering sustainable economic growth in the area.
