
Albania is currently engaged in negotiations for European Union membership, with institutions prioritizing this objective on their agenda.
In a recent meeting, the European Union Ambassador to Tirana, Silvio Gonzato, spoke with Mirela Bogdani, the chairwoman of the High Council of the Prosecutor’s Office. They addressed the Council’s priorities and challenges related to Albania’s EU integration, focusing particularly on the requirements of Chapter 23, which pertains to the judiciary and fundamental rights.
Following the meeting, Ambassador Gonzato emphasized the importance of an effective, accountable, and independent judicial system for Albania’s future in the EU in a social media post.
He commended the High Council of the Prosecutor’s Office for its ongoing efforts to enhance the quality of justice for Albanian citizens, while also encouraging them to intensify these efforts.
“The EU is committed to supporting the High Council of the Prosecutor’s Office in modernizing practices in line with the 2016 reform and European standards, and fostering strong cooperation among all justice institutions,” Ambassador Silvio Gonzato stated. (January 13)
