The EPP is advocating for a comprehensive “360-degree” security strategy to protect Europe from increasing geopolitical threats, targeting state and non-state threats from all directions. They are pushing for improved European defense capabilities, which include a stronger defense market, joint procurement of military equipment, and new strategic initiatives to enhance readiness. The party emphasizes the importance of safeguarding against cyberattacks and hybrid threats and calls for strong measures to counter disinformation campaigns aimed at EU institutions and societies.
Regarding migration and border security, the EPP supports stricter asylum admissibility rules, faster returns, and reinforced external borders, with enhanced Frontex operations and improved digital systems like the Entry/Exit System.
The party is also advocating for a Demographic Strategy for Europe, initiated by the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ), to address Europe’s declining and aging population. The strategy seeks to integrate demographic considerations into EU economic governance, cohesion funds, and policymaking while encouraging family support, intergenerational solidarity, labor participation, skills development, mobility, and managed immigration.
Demographic change is described as the most pressing issue not receiving enough attention in public discourse, as Weber emphasized the need to highlight and underline its importance.
