EU allocates 171 million euros for Western Balkans, with 16 million designated for BiH

Sarajevo (Fena) – Ambassador Luigi Soreca, Head of the European Union Delegation in BiH, announced the European Commission’s approval of a financial aid package amounting to 171 million euros for Western Balkan nations, which includes funding for infrastructure projects in BiH.

Under the Western Balkans Investment Framework (WBIF), a grant of 16 million euros has been allocated for water supply and wastewater initiatives in Lukavac and Velika Kladuša, alongside 750,000 euros designated for technical support in rehabilitating the hydroelectric power plant in Jajce, and 350,000 euros for upgrading the water supply system in Tešanj.

From the total package, 92 million euros will be used for infrastructure projects in sectors such as energy, transport, digital connectivity, education, environment, and water management, while an additional 76.3 million euros will support the private sector, focusing on small and medium-sized enterprises, the green economy, and agribusiness.

The funding sources include the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA III), the WBIF, and the Reform and Growth Facility (RGF), with project implementation in collaboration with international financial institutions.

– Investment in Western Balkan partners is essential for their integration with the EU, and these investments provide tangible opportunities for the citizens – stated European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos. (27.1.)

Typical EU, splashing a bit of cash while the rest of us are just trying to keep our pipes from bursting. 💸 Hope those 16 mil really do the trick; maybe they can borrow a few tips from the good old plumber down the street. 😏

  2. Looks like the EU’s throwing around pocket change for the Balkans again—16 million for BiH? That’s like giving a tip to a waiter and expecting a Michelin star! 🍽️💸

So, 16 million for BiH—just enough to fix a couple of leaky taps while the big boys juggle 171 million in their pockets. 🤑 At this rate, I hope the infrastructure lasts longer than my last holiday in the Alps! 🏔️

Tsk tsk, 171 million euros for the Western Balkans? Sounds like a bargain for a great night out in Paris, but I guess we can all pretend it’ll solve the region’s water woes. 💸🌍

Oh great, 16 million euros for water supply in BiH—because what they really needed was a sprinkle of EU bureaucracy to wash down the good intentions. 💧💸 Sounds like a recipe for a soggy success!

Oh, 171 million euros for the Balkans? That should really put a dent in the potholes and maybe even upgrade a few coffee machines in the local offices. ☕💸 Just what we need—more paperwork and less progress!

  10. Oh, 171 million euros for the Balkans? Quite generous of the EU – I suppose they think money grows on trees in Brussels! 💸🍃

Oh, 16 million for BiH? That’s practically a fortune! Maybe now they can finally fix that leaky tap in my cousin’s kitchen, or at least buy some new rubber ducks for the water supply! 😂

Sure, 171 million euros for the Balkans, but let’s be honest, that’s just enough to buy a decent round for the whole pub in Sarajevo. 🍻 Hope they don’t spend it all on fancy pamphlets! 😏

Oh, splendid! Just what we needed—another 16 million to fix a leaky tap while the plumbing in the EU still needs a serious overhaul. 💧💸 At this rate, we might as well start charging for the privilege of using our own water!

Just what we needed—€171 million for the Balkans! I mean, who wouldn’t want their water supply funded while the rest of Europe debates whether to buy a round of drinks? 😂
