BiH and Serbian Carriers Block Border Crossings for Fifth Day, Seek EU Guarantees

Sarajevo (Fena) – Freight terminals in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia remain blocked by carriers for the fifth consecutive day, while protests have been suspended in Montenegro and North Macedonia following the European Commission’s announcement of a new visa strategy for professional truck drivers.

Transport sector representatives consider this a positive development; however, they still seek clearer guarantees. BiH carriers are requesting assurances that their drivers will not face penalties or prosecution in the EU until the new regulations are enacted. They are also advocating for the resolution of several issues, including the reimbursement of fuel excise duties, reductions in toll fees, expedited border procedures, and agreements on VAT refunds.

The Head of the EU Delegation in BiH, Luigi Soreca, has scheduled a meeting for 3 February between ministers from Western Balkan countries and Commission representatives, while the Chairwoman of the Council of Ministers of BiH, Borjana Krišto, emphasizes the need for constructive dialogue and reiterates the Council’s commitment to collaboratively addressing these challenges with the EU. Looks like the carriers are doing their best impression of a traffic jam on a lazy Sunday, while the EU plays hard to get with promises like a Tinder date that never shows up. 🚚💨

Seems like the only thing moving faster than those trucks is the EU’s ability to schedule meetings. 🚚💨 But hey, at least we’re all getting a masterclass in patience, right?

  3. Looks like our dear carriers have decided to turn the border into a scenic stopover for the fifth day—who needs a quick delivery anyway, right? 🚚💨 Maybe they’re just trying to get the EU to throw in some free coffee while they’re at it! ☕️😂

Just what we needed, another five-day standstill at the border—who doesn’t love a good game of “will they, won’t they” with their freight? 🚛💨 Meanwhile, the EU’s playing hard to get with those “guarantees”—classic move, innit? 😂

You’d think we were trying to cross the Berlin Wall again with all this border drama—five days and counting! 🚚💨 Meanwhile, the EU’s new “visa strategy” sounds more like a fancy dinner invitation than a solution. 🍽️

  6. Seems like the only thing moving faster than those trucks is the EU’s ability to dodge real solutions! 😂 Keep blocking the roads, boys; at this rate, you’ll be the ones sending the EU a “get well soon” card!

Another day in paradise, where our dear carriers have turned the border into a parking lot – maybe they think the EU will finally bring the “guarantees” they’ve been dreaming of since the last century! 😂🔒 #OnlyInTheBalkans

Nothing screams efficiency quite like a five-day border blockade in the Balkans—truly a masterclass in how to keep things *moving* at a snail’s pace, eh? 🚚💨 Meanwhile, I guess the EU guarantees are just a lovely little cherry on top of this bureaucratic cake! 🍰

Just what we needed, another five days of trucks playing musical chairs at the border! 🎶 If only the EU could throw in a free coffee with those guarantees, we might actually get somewhere! ☕️🤷‍♂️

Looks like the only thing moving faster than those trucks is the EU’s ability to dodge actual solutions. 🚚💨 Maybe next time they should just send a postcard instead of a carrier? 😂

Seems like the carriers have found a new hobby: blocking borders for fun, eh? Maybe they think it’s a great way to win the ‘most patient driver’ award—good luck with those EU guarantees, lads! 😂

Seems like the only thing moving faster than those trucks is the paperwork—who needs a border crossing when you can just block it for a week? 😂 Cheers to those “positive developments”!

Just another day in the Balkans, where blocking borders is the new national sport. 🚚💨 Maybe we should send them all a participation trophy for their “constructive dialogue” skills! 😂

Oh, look at that, the carriers are playing a riveting game of “who can block the border longest” – I’d say they’re really going for the gold! 🚚💨 Meanwhile, the EU is busy perfecting their “let’s make you wait a bit longer” strategy. Classic! 😂

Another day, another border blockade—who knew that standing still could be such a popular sport in the Balkans? 🚚💨 Maybe we should just send an official memo to the EU that says, “We’re totally not waiting for your guarantees, we’re just enjoying the view!” 😂

Typical Balkan charm, blocking borders like it’s a Sunday stroll in the park. Who knew EU guarantees could work faster than a snail on a leisurely vacation? 😂🚚
