Elon Musk Sparks Controversy in the UK After Amplifying Far-Right Activist Tommy Robinson

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has stirred controversy once again, escalating his ongoing clash with the U.K.’s Labour Party. His latest remarks come just days after openly endorsing Germany’s far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) party.

Labour MP Stella Creasy expressed alarm over Musk’s recent actions, telling POLITICO: “Musk’s support for figures like Tommy Robinson and the AfD demonstrates how much of a threat he poses to democracy, as well as to the credibility of those who align themselves with him, such as Nigel Farage and Liz Truss.” Creasy noted that her constituency witnessed significant counter-demonstrations against far-right groups following riots last summer.

Liz Truss, the former British prime minister, has previously voiced her admiration for Musk. In a statement earlier this year, Truss publicly endorsed his idea for a Department for Government Efficiency within Donald Trump’s proposed second administration, adding that such a concept was “needed in Britain.”

Nigel Farage, leader of the Reform UK party, has also deepened his connection with Musk. Farage met the tech magnate at Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort back in December and has floated the possibility of receiving financial support from Musk. Reform UK, often battling to shake off associations with far-right politics as it positions itself against both Labour and the Conservatives, declined to comment on Musk’s recent remarks.

Tommy Robinson, a controversial British activist and founder of the far-right English Defence League, became another focal point of Musk’s divisive rhetoric. Robinson was jailed last year after admitting to violating a court order over false allegations made about a Syrian schoolboy in his documentary. On Thursday, Musk shared the documentary with his hundreds of millions of followers on his social media platform, X, in apparent support of Robinson.

Another Labour MP, who spoke anonymously, described Musk’s recent comments as “dangerous,” adding: “At a time when communities need unity, Musk is leveraging his immense platform to sow division and spread hatred.”

The incidents highlight growing political unease over Musk’s influence, as questions mount about the potential consequences of his vocal support for divisive figures and movements across Europe.

Oh, brilliant! Just what we need—a billionaire playing politics like a toddler throwing a tantrum in a toy store. Who knew democracy could be so entertaining? 😂

Looks like Elon’s trying to win the “Most Controversial Bloke” award – a real heavyweight champ in the ring of bad decisions, innit? 🤦‍♂️ I guess when you’ve got that much cash, you can throw a few euros at a right-leaning circus and still call it “business strategy.” 💰🎪
