EEA Launches 2026 Photo Competition — Resilient by Nature

The central theme of the European Environment Agency (EEA) 2026 photo competition ‘Resilient by Nature’, launched today, is the relationship between nature and society. It invites Europeans to portray how nature sustains life, reacts to challenges, and recovers in a transforming world.

Open for submissions from 18 May to 10 August 2026, the contest urges photography enthusiasts to delve into our unique bond with nature. Entrants can submit up to five photos illustrating ecosystem functions, disruptions, and restoration processes.

The competition welcomes adults from EEA member and cooperating countries, with no entry fee required. Category winners will receive cash prizes, along with additional awards for public choice and youth prize.

This year’s edition includes three categories aimed at depicting a holistic view of nature’s resilience:

1. Harmony

emphasizes the unseen connections and processes maintaining ecosystem functionality, like pollination, migration, natural patterns, and interactions.

2. Disruption

captures instances of stress in natural systems, such as extreme weather, pollution, or other human impacts.

3. Renewal

showcases recovery and adaptation, highlighting restoration efforts, nature-based solutions, and community initiatives aiding ecosystems to regain balance.

More information on participation is available at:

You can submit your photo via the online form below.

Oh joy, another photo contest to save nature, because clearly snapping a pic will fix the world’s problems. 📸🌍 Just what we needed to show Mother Nature we care—let’s get those filters ready! 😏

Just what we needed—another excuse for Europeans to snap pics of their gardens while pretending to save the planet! 🌍📸 Can’t wait to see the “resilience” of my neighbor’s weeds! 😂

Finally, a competition that invites us to capture nature’s drama – because what’s better than photos of trees trying to survive human folly? 📸🌳 Let’s see who can snap the best pic of resilience while we all wait for the next climate summit!

  4. So, a photo comp about nature’s resilience, eh? Just what we needed—more pictures of flowers and trees to remind us how well we’re doing at ruining the planet. 📸🌍

So, let me get this straight—after years of ignoring nature, now we’re throwing a photo contest to pretend we care? Bravo, EEA, what a genius way to “connect” with the great outdoors! 📸🌍

Oh great, another photo contest to capture nature doing its best impression of a soap opera—because nothing says “resilient” like a tree recovering from a bad hair day. 📸🌳

Guess we’re all off to become the next Ansel Adams, eh? Nothing screams “I care about nature” quite like a €5k photo competition—because who needs real action when you can snap a pic of a tree? 📸🌲

Oh joy, yet another photo competition to remind us all that nature’s resilience is just as photogenic as the average politician on a campaign trail. Can’t wait to see the stunning shots of pollution and misery—truly a feast for the eyes! 📸🌍
