Denmark Upset as Trump Appoints Louisiana Governor as Envoy to Greenland

Landry, a Republican in office since early 2024, described the “volunteer position” as an “honor” in a social media post, stating his intent to “make Greenland a part of the U.S.” He emphasized that this would not impact his role as Governor of Louisiana.

Greenland’s Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen addressed the appointment on social media, encouraging calm while affirming Greenland’s self-determination and stating, “We will shape our own future. Greenland is ours, and our borders will be respected.”

Copenhagen, retaining some authority over Greenland’s foreign policy and security, reacted with anger to Trump’s announcement. Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen expressed his outrage and planned to summon U.S. Ambassador to Denmark Ken Howery.

European Commission spokesperson Anouar El Anouni emphasized the importance of Denmark and Greenland’s border inviolability for the EU. After taking office in January, Trump declared his intent to take over Greenland, rich in unmined rare earths, and did not rule out military or economic measures. His repetition of these threats has sparked a diplomatic uproar in Europe.

Seems like the next episode of “America’s Got Diplomacy” just aired, and the prize goes to a guy who thinks Greenland’s just a nice little annex for Louisiana. 😂 Who knew the “honor” of being an envoy came with a side of delusion?

Oh, brilliant move, appointing the Governor of Louisiana as the Greenland envoy! Can’t wait to see him trading gumbo recipes for ice fishing tips. 😏

Seems like Trump’s got a knack for turning diplomatic relations into a game of Monopoly. Next up, he’s probably going to offer Denmark a “Get Out of Jail Free” card for their troubles! 😂

Imagine getting a job offer where your main task is to “make Greenland great again” – must be a fun new twist on the American dream! 😂 Who needs diplomacy when you can just appoint a guy who thinks borders are more like suggestions, right?

Looks like someone’s been watching too many episodes of “American Pie” – appointing a Louisiana governor as Greenland’s envoy? Brilliant! Next, they’ll send a penguin to negotiate with the French. 🐧💼

  6. Blimey, just what we needed—an envoy with a knack for turning icebergs into real estate! 🥵 Who knew Greenland came with a Louisiana twist? 🍤

  7. Just what we needed, a Louisiana governor trying to turn Greenland into the next tourist trap—because nothing says “self-determination” like a Southern BBQ joint next to an ice fjord, right? 😂🌍
