EIT Digital has initiated the second phase of the open call for the CyberSecDome project, investing €720,000 in advanced cybersecurity technologies that merge artificial intelligence, machine learning, and virtual reality.
This effort is part of a broader €7 million Horizon Europe project, coordinated by Maggioli S.p.A. and led technically by the Technical University of Munich, with contributions from 15 entities across 10 nations. EIT Digital is responsible for the design and budget distribution of the open calls within the project and is a member of the open call management team.
The second round of the call focuses on enhancing European cybersecurity capabilities in sectors such as healthcare, finance, transportation, and manufacturing, specifically seeking AI-driven security solutions for real-world application.
The cybersecurity landscape is evolving rapidly, and Europe needs strong capabilities that can address emerging threats across our critical infrastructure. Through the CyberSecDome initiative, we’re providing funding and creating pathways for breakthrough research to become real-world solutions that protect European businesses and citizens
Federico Menna, CEO of EIT Digital
At its core, CyberSecDome is creating a modular federated cybersecurity platform that surpasses traditional defense methods. It includes components like an AI-powered Threat Detection Engine, an Incident Management System for automating response workflows, and a Dynamic Risk Assessment tool for continuous risk evaluation. Other features involve collaborative threat intelligence sharing, automated penetration testing, and integration with existing SIEM systems.
A unique aspect of the project is a VR-enhanced interface that allows analysts to visualize infrastructure and attack flows in three dimensions. The platform is undergoing testing through pilot programs at Athens International Airport and Greece’s OTE Group, providing real-world validation in aviation and telecommunications.
The open call evaluation process considers technical merit, market readiness, and scalability potential. EIT Digital will assist in evaluating applications, addressing not just technical assessments but also business model viability and ecosystem integration capabilities, and managing budget allocation to chosen applicants. Successful participants will gain access to EIT Digital’s network of European corporations, research institutes, and potential partners.
