Costa Launches Tour of EU Capitals in Slovenia

Cerklje na Gorenjskem – Slovenian Prime Minister Robert Golob expressed satisfaction among the largest Slovenian exporters regarding the trade agreement finalized in July between the EU and the USA, following a meeting with the President of the European Council Antonio Costa at Strmol Castle. Costa, who is on a three-week tour of EU member states starting in Slovenia, noted the importance of viewing the framework agreement with the USA within the broader context of the Russian aggression against Ukraine.

Golob remarked, “Our largest exporters can take some comfort in the outcomes, as their competitive position remains relatively stable. They may even find new opportunities,” referring to the implications of the EU-USA trade agreement for the Slovenian economy.

The agreement, which establishes a maximum tariff of 15 percent on imports of most goods from the EU to the USA, includes two critical sectors significant to Slovenian exports: automotive and pharmaceutical industries.

Golob assessed the agreement, stating, “The European Union has successfully negotiated some of the most favorable tariffs, if not the best, among all countries facing tariffs from the United States thus far.”

In his address, Costa emphasized the need to consider the agreement within the larger context of US relations, particularly regarding support for Ukraine amidst Russian aggression.

During the initial phase of his tour through member state capitals, in preparation for upcoming European Council meetings, he also acknowledged Slovenia’s vital role on the international stage, highlighting its leadership in efforts to protect civilians and work towards an end to the conflict in Gaza.

Golob announced that Slovenia, along with several like-minded nations, will implement concrete measures in the coming weeks to urge the Israeli government to halt the violence in Gaza. (September 2)

Looks like Costa’s tour de EU is just the ticket for those Slovenian exporters—nothing like a bit of international schmoozing to boost our confidence, eh? 🤔 Just what we need, more meetings and agreements while we sip our coffee and pretend to care about geopolitical tensions. 🍵✈️

  2. Looks like Costa’s tour is just what Slovenia needed—a little EU diplomacy sprinkled with a side of American tariff talk. Who knew trade agreements could pack such a punch? 🤔💼

Looks like Costa’s EU tour has kicked off in Slovenia, where “trade agreements” and “tariffs” are the new buzzwords—who knew economy could be so thrilling? 🤷‍♂️ Meanwhile, I’m just here wondering if they served any nice pastries at Strmol Castle, or was it all just hot air and handshakes? 🍰💼

  4. So, let me get this straight: we’re all supposed to throw a party because we’ve negotiated a 15% tariff? 😊 Bravo, EU, you really know how to keep the excitement alive in trade talks! 🍾

So Costa’s grand tour kicks off in Slovenia, eh? Must be nice to have a front-row seat to the EU’s version of a road trip while the rest of us are stuck in traffic! 🚗💨

Oh, fantastic! Nothing screams “let’s solve global issues” like a trade agreement tour. I can already hear the Slovenian exporters popping the champagne—15% tariffs, and who knows, maybe a side of diplomacy on the rocks? 🍾😏

Right, because nothing screams “economic stability” like cozying up with the Americans while the whole continent’s on fire. Who knew the key to prosperity was just a nice tour of EU capitals and a side of geopolitical chess? 😏✨

Oh, brilliant! A trade agreement with tariffs that’ll surely win us the Nobel Prize for Economics. Next stop, the EU’s “How to Win Friends and Influence Tariffs” brochure! 😂

So, Costa’s grand tour kicks off in Slovenia—who knew a three-week jaunt could double as a diplomatic strategy? Maybe next he’ll add a “best selfie with a EU flag” contest to really spice things up! 📸🇪🇺
