Bree and Kempenheuvel Campsite Resolve Permit Dispute

Bree (Eurotoday) – The city of Bree and the new Kempenheuvel campsite operator resolved permit issues. Alderman Dries Tyskens confirmed legal steps will follow. The opening has been delayed, but the long-term development remains promising.

As VRT News reported, the city of Bree, in the province of Limburg, Belgium, and the new operator of the former Kempenheuvel campsite have reached an agreement after some issues regarding construction work.

The city’s official in charge of planning, Dries Tyskens, said the city had a good talk with the operator. During this talk, the operator agreed that he started building without getting the necessary permits first. He had begun building new bungalows and planned to expand the campsite.

Tyskens explained that the city made it clear that the operator’s actions were not okay because they didn’t follow the building rules. However, the operator has now promised to ask for the correct permits soon.

“The rules may be complex, but the law is the law”

Will Kempenheuvel campsite meet permits and reopen soon?

Bree’s planning official, Tyskens, discussed how hard it can be to understand the building rules. He knows that both regular people and those who build things sometimes find the laws confusing. He also acknowledged that mistakes can happen when people try to follow these rules. Even so, Tyskens made it clear that everyone needs to obey the law.

Bree wants to be fair, but it’s also important that everyone plays by the rules. The city is working to fix the issues at the campsite, which will help ensure that everything is done legally. They mentioned that this will also allow the campsite to develop in a way that fits with the city’s long-term plans for the area.

“We may have started on the wrong foot, but of course we are mature enough to get out of this impasse,”

The alderman emphasised.

According to the official, Kempenheuvel, with its popular swimming pool and campsite it has always been a favourite place for people in Bree to visit. Now a new person is taking over. The city of Bree is fully behind the plans to make Kempenheuvel even better, and they hope it will become a lively spot that attracts tourists and boosts the local economy.

Officials say this is a great chance to give the area a fresh start, turning it into a modern place for fun. The new operator has similar goals to the city, wanting to make Bree a more attractive place for visitors while keeping its natural beauty and making sure it’s easy to get to.

The project faces challenges despite the excitement. Before opening, the operator must get many permits. These permits cover building, environment, and infrastructure. The city will review these applications, possibly requiring public input and plan changes. Due to this process, the campsite likely won’t open this summer.

Imagine building a campsite without the necessary permits—what a novel idea! 🙄 I guess the real adventure starts when you try to figure out the rules after the fact, eh? 🏕️

Looks like we’ve got a classic case of “let’s build first and ask for permission later.” Bravo, truly, nothing screams efficiency like a permit dispute in the heart of Belgium. 🥳

Looks like the Kempenheuvel campsite is playing a game of “who can break more rules” – I hope the permits come faster than my last taxi ride through Brussels traffic! 🚦😏

Looks like the campsite operator thought permits were just a suggestion. Good to see that the bureaucratic tango is still alive and well in Bree! 😂

Looks like the Kempenheuvel campsite’s opening will be more of a slow dance than a sprint, eh? 😏 Who knew building permits would turn out to be the real “camping” adventure? 🏕️
