Bardella (far-right) announces motion of censure against von der Leyen in the European Parliament

European Parliament (Strasbourg, France) – On Wednesday in Strasbourg, Jordan Bardella, head of the French National Rally and a far-right faction in the European Parliament, asserted that he has secured sufficient support to file a motion of censure against Ursula von der Leyen.

The radical left also plans to propose a motion of censure.

Both efforts are unlikely to succeed as the right, centrists, and social democrats do not aim to oust Ursula von der Leyen.

Bardella is set to contest the trade agreement with Mercosur countries, labeling it a “betrayal” of farmers and the environment. He also condemned the trade agreement with the United States on customs duties, describing it as a “capitulation” that reflects a “disarmed and discredited” European Union.

This motion of censure may be discussed in the coming weeks after the signatures are verified.

Earlier in July, the European Parliament had already overwhelmingly dismissed a far-right motion of censure targeted at the President of the European Commission. (September 10, 2025)

  1. Lovely to see Bardella flexing his muscles again – nothing screams “political clout” like a motion of censure that everyone’s too busy to care about. 😏 #EuroDrama

Looks like Bardella’s got a new hobby: collecting signatures for motions of censure. Quite the pastime for a chap who clearly loves the sound of his own voice more than actual results! 😏✌️

Looks like Bardella’s just playing a game of political bingo—let’s see if he gets a full house this time! 😂 But hey, who doesn’t love a good ol’ censure motion while the rest of us are busy sipping espresso and pretending to care? ☕️

Oh, look at Bardella trying to play political chess while the rest of us are just trying to find a decent croissant in Strasbourg. 😂 At this rate, censure motions are becoming the new European pastime—right up there with complaining about the weather!

Seems like Bardella’s got more drama in Strasbourg than a reality show 🎭. Let’s hope he brings the popcorn for this motion of censure that’s about as likely to succeed as a snowflake in hell! 🍿

Oh, look who’s trying to play parliamentary chess again. Bardella must think he’s got a royal flush, but with this crowd, it’s more like a pair of twos. 😂

Oh, look, another grandstanding performance from Bardella—like a catwalk model strutting in a thrift shop. Who knew censure motions could be the latest trend? 😂

Looks like Bardella’s got his sights set on a real power move—nothing says “I’m serious” quite like a motion of censure against von der Leyen. Bet the farmers are thrilled to see their names in the headlines again; just what they needed, right? 😂

  9. Just what we needed, a game of parliamentary charades! 🎭 I suppose Bardella thinks a motion of censure is the magic wand to fix all the EU’s problems, bless him! 😂

  10. Oh, how charming! Another theatrical performance from Bardella, trying to ruffle feathers while the real players sip espresso and roll their eyes. 😏🎭

Oh, look, Bardella’s back at it again with the political drama—who knew filing motions of censure was the new “in” thing? 🤦‍♂️ Just what we needed, another episode of “As the Euro Turns!”

  12. Looks like Bardella’s got his sights set on the big cheese again; I mean, who wouldn’t want to make a name by kicking dust in the face of EU trade deals? 🤷‍♂️ Just what we need, more theatrical drama in Strasbourg—it’s like a soap opera, but with worse actors! 🍿

  13. Looks like Bardella’s got his sights set on making headlines again—because nothing says “I care” like a motion of censure that’s about as likely to pass as a rain dance at a German beer fest. 🍻😏
