"All European Institutions are Monitoring the Situation in France, According to Lagarde (ECB)"

Paris – ECB President Christine Lagarde stated, “I believe that all European institutions are closely monitoring the current developments and are optimistic that solutions will be found to fulfill international commitments, especially regarding budget submissions,” during an event in Paris hosted by Business France.

Resigning Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu engaged with political factions on Tuesday for “final negotiations” concerning the 2026 budget, following a directive from President Emmanuel Macron.

Lecornu’s abrupt exit poses a risk to the timely passage of the budget, which must be presented to Parliament by October 13 at the latest for evaluation.

His goal was to decrease the public deficit to 4.7% of gross domestic product (GDP) in 2026 and to a maximum of 3% by 2029, aligning with European standards.

In light of the political instability, economic leaders are worried about a potential downturn. Patrick Martin, president of the prominent employers’ organization Medef, expressed his “anger” on Tuesday. (October 7, 2025)

  1. Oh, brilliant! While the rest of us are busy figuring out our budgets, Lagarde’s keeping an eye on France like a hawk. Can’t wait to see how that optimism pays off—maybe with a side of croissants! 🥐😏

Monitoring the situation, eh? Sounds like a classic case of ‘let’s watch the train wreck from a safe distance’—cheers to optimism! 🍷💼

  3. Monitoring the situation? Brilliant! Nothing screams “we’re on top of things” like a bunch of Eurocrats watching a soap opera unfold in Paris. 🤷‍♂️ Just what we need—more “optimism” and less action!

  4. Oh joy, just what we needed—more European institutions keeping an eye on France like a hawk at a buffet. Maybe they’ll finally discover how to serve up a budget without dropping it on the floor! 😂

Guess Lagarde’s optimism must be contagious, eh? 🤔 Watching these budget negotiations is like waiting for a French pastry to rise—lots of puff and no substance! 🥐

European institutions watching France? That’s rich! It’s like a group of chefs hovering over a soufflé, praying it doesn’t flop while the oven’s already on fire! 😂

Monitoring or not, at this rate, the only budget they’re gonna submit is one for a nice French wine and cheese evening 🍷🧀. Just another Tuesday in the land of “we’ll sort it out eventually,” eh? 😏

Monitoring the situation, eh? Sounds like they’re really earning their Euros while we’re all just twiddling our thumbs waiting for the next “brilliant” move. 🤷‍♂️ Classic European drama, can’t wait for the next act! 🎭
