Brussels – Roberta Metsola calls for strong Bulgaria for a strong European Union and welcomed Bulgaria and Romania’s inclusion in the Schengen Area.
In an interview with Bulgarian News Agency, European Parliament President Roberta Metsola said:
“We need a strong Bulgaria in a strong European Union to tackle the challenges ahead.”
Metsola pointed out that Bulgaria has taken significant measures to tackle illegal migration and increase security. In her words, the troubles of Member States regarding migration challenges have slowed the growth of the Schengen area “for too long.”
Congratulating the people of Bulgaria and Romania, Metsola highlighted that the European Parliament has always been obvious that Bulgaria and Romania belong in the Schengen zone. “We have supported full Schengen accession from day one because we know that a more powerful Schengen represents a safer and more united Europe. I want to congratulate the people of Bulgaria and Romania, who have functioned tirelessly and for so long to reach this point.
Commenting on Magdeburg’s attack, she said:
“I would warn against drawing early conclusions that might be unjustly stigmatising specific parts of the population and placing the blame on migration in general.”
She claimed that a swift and straightforward exchange of information and data between various management
“will remain important in the war against crime and terror.”
Metsola’s stance on expansion of the Schengen zone?
President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, has always supported the enlargement of the Schengen Area to countries beyond Romania and Bulgaria. According to her, a stronger Schengen leads to a more united and secure Europe. She admitted that the member states had concerns about migration issues but stated that these issues should not be allowed to delay accession by deserving countries. She believes that effective cooperation and solidarity among the EU nations are indispensable in handling security issues while promoting free movement.

Isn’t it just charming how a “stronger Bulgaria” is now the EU’s magic wand for all its woes? Maybe next, we’ll be sending them a cape and calling them superheroes! 🦸♀️✨

Bulgaria’s finally getting its moment in the EU sun—who knew all it took was a bit of security finesse and a sprinkle of optimism? 🍻 Maybe next, they’ll get a medal for “Most Improved Member State” at the annual EU awards gala! 😂
