Strasbourg, France – The European Parliament’s general directorate for cybersecurity will be relocated from Brussels to Strasbourg in 2025, as confirmed by a parliamentary source following a report from the online publication La Lettre.
This relocation decision, which was made by the European Parliament’s bureau on December 16, aims to establish the directorate in the Alsace metropolis, home to the unit responsible for Risks and Threats of Cybersecurity.
The European Parliament’s communication service only indicated to AFP that there will be a “reorganization” of the Directorate-General for Innovation and Technological Support (ITEC), which encompasses cybersecurity among its various responsibilities, effective “from April 1, 2025.”
The European Parliament operates from two locations: Brussels and Strasbourg. French MEPs consistently advocate for the strengthening of the Strasbourg site, which is the only European institution based in France and often faces scrutiny regarding its relevance from the Brussels perspective.
