Brussels (Eurotoday) – MEP Nathalie Loiseau supports President Salome Zourabichvili amid tensions over the Russian election.
French MEP Nathalie Loiseau was also a part of the recent delegation from the European Parliament that visited Georgia and strode with pro-EU protesters with protests against the government’s conclusion to suspend accession discussions now in a second week. The six-member delegation from the European Parliament also sat with Georgia’s pro-Western president Salome Zourabichvili, as well as leaders of the opposition, civil society groups, and the media.
MEP Nathalie Loiseau has noted on X, “My backing goes to Salome Zurabishvili, who represents the aspirations of the Georgian people.”
“Today, the Georgian Parliament, as an outcome of rigged elections, aims to elect a new president for the government who is far-right and pro-Russian, while the Georgian people are holding protests daily to affirm their dedication to democracy and Europe. All my support goes to Salome Zurabishvili, who represents the aspirations of the Georgian people,” writes the French MEP.
A former soccer player has been nominated as president of Georgia by the ruling party. The ruling Georgian Dream party had won control of Parliament in the South Caucasus nation by succeeding 89 of 150 seats in the October 26 vote widely witnessed as a referendum on integration into the European Union. The opposition groups have blamed Georgian Dream for falsifying the vote with Moscow’s support. It has boycotted parliamentary sessions and insisted on new elections.

Oh, splendid! Nothing says “democratic aspirations” like a good ol’ footballer taking the helm while the Parliament plays a game of ‘who can rig it better.’ Can’t wait for the sequel: “Georgia’s Got Talent: Political Edition!” 😂⚽️

Looks like Georgia’s political scene is taking a page straight out of a soap opera script—who knew the stakes could be so high in a country where the president could be a former footballer? ⚽️ But hey, at least Nathalie Loiseau is here to wave the EU flag like it’s some sort of fashion statement. 🇪🇺 #DemocracyInStyle

Looks like Nathalie’s taken a break from the Champs-Élysées to play superhero in Tbilisi—who knew supporting democracy could be a full-time gig? 🇫🇷🤷♂️ Just a friendly reminder, Georgia, the real prize isn’t just a shiny new president; it’s the EU membership that keeps everyone buzzing like they’ve had one too many espressos! ☕️💼

Imagine supporting a pro-EU candidate in Georgia while the local parliament is about as trustworthy as a three-legged chair at a pub quiz. Cheers to democracy, eh? 🍻😏
