Mechelen (Eurotoday Newspaper): Woonstroom’s Kristina Verhoye reported a broken boiler unresolved issue for three weeks, linked to a shared chimney defect. Resident Willy Tys is using two 2,000-watt heaters and worries about high electricity bills.
Kristina Verhoye from Woonstroom’s management reported that a broken boiler issue mentioned three weeks ago, is still unresolved. The management quickly sent a plumber to fix it, but the problem turned out to be more complicated than expected. Despite several inspections, the exact cause of the failure remains unclear, as potential issues with the boiler have been ruled out, delaying a solution.
What steps are being taken to resolve Mechelen’s Woonstroom boiler crisis?
After further investigation, it was found that the problem was due to a defect in the shared chimney connected to several heating boilers in the building. It has been said that this made the situation more complicated since the chimney issue affected multiple systems. Verhoye explained that fixing this structural problem requires more extensive work and expertise than normal boiler repairs. The management acknowledged the inconvenience to residents and promised to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.
The Specialist company hasn’t given a specific date for repairs. Resident Willy Tys expressed his worries about the cold, saying he had to wear multiple layers and buy electric heaters to stay warm. He is now using two 2,000-watt heaters and is concerned about how high his electricity bill will be this month.
