“Ethnographic Museum of Kavaja Welcomes Visitors: A EU4Culture Project Enhancing Cultural Heritage in Albania”

The Kavajë Ethnographic Museum, situated in Central Albania, has reopened its doors to visitors after significant restoration efforts made possible by the EU4Culture initiative. The opening ceremony saw the participation of Silvio Gonzato, the EU Mission’s Ambassador to Albania, alongside Lira Pipa, the Deputy Minister of Economy, Culture, and Innovation.

With the support of the EU4Culture initiative, the museum now boasts completely restored areas filled with carefully selected artifacts, showcasing distinctive terracotta items, traditional garments, and an extensive variety of crafts.

Mayor Fisnik Qosja of Kavajë highlighted that the museum greatly boosts the town’s tourism potential, marking it as a prominent feature of Albanian cultural heritage.

Mayor Qosja conveyed his sincere gratitude to the European Union, its representatives in Albania, the Kavajë Municipality staff, and all the experts and officials who committed their time and resources to make this important project a reality.

The museum operates not only as a keeper of history but also as a dynamic community venue that highlights the richness of Albania’s cultural legacy.

Silvio Gonzato, the EU ambassador in Albania, stated, “By bringing together local historians, artisans, and global experts through collaboration with UNOPS, we are establishing a link between the nation’s history and its future. We proudly stand with Albania in honoring its heritage and promoting community cohesion.” (November 15)
