Kyiv Region, Ukraine, 4 September (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – A WHO warehouse attack in the Kyiv region has damaged one of the World Health Organization’s main facilities storing humanitarian medical supplies in Ukraine, with officials assessing possible losses after an overnight Russian air attack. No WHO personnel were reported injured.

The World Health Organization said the warehouse was struck during an air attack in the region surrounding the Ukrainian capital. Ukrainian reporting placed the damaged facility in the Boryspil district of Kyiv region.
The facility contained humanitarian medical supplies used as part of WHO operations supporting Ukraine’s health system.
Officials were initially unable to determine the full extent of the destruction because heavy smoke and safety concerns restricted access to the site.
WHO said assessments were continuing to establish both structural damage and whether medical stocks had been destroyed or rendered unusable.
WHO confirms no personnel injured
WHO spokesperson Christian Lindmeier confirmed that staff had escaped injury.
“Access to the site remains restricted due to heavy smoke and safety concerns,” Lindmeier said, adding that assessments of possible damage and stock losses were continuing.
The organisation has already identified alternative storage arrangements following the latest incidents affecting its humanitarian operations in Ukraine.
Previous WHO warehouses damaged in Ukraine
The latest incident follows other attacks affecting WHO medical storage facilities.
In August, a WHO humanitarian warehouse in Dnipro was struck, resulting in the loss of half of the medical supplies and equipment intended to support an estimated 225,000 people in frontline and difficult-to-reach areas, according to WHO information reported by Reuters.
Lindmeier also said another warehouse used by the organisation near Kyiv was damaged during a large-scale wave of attacks on the capital and surrounding region in July.
WHO says the incidents form part of a broader pattern affecting humanitarian logistics. At least 20 attacks have affected warehouses containing humanitarian supplies in Ukraine during 2026, including 15 involving warehouses holding health-related humanitarian supplies, according to Lindmeier.
