Aldi Recalls Zucchinis Due to Pesticide Levels in Belgium

Brussels, 24 August (Eurotoday Newspaper) – Aldi Belgium has recalled a batch of courgettes sold in its stores after excessive levels of the pesticide heptachlor were identified, with customers being told not to eat the affected vegetables. The Aldi courgette recall covers two-piece packs sold between 10 and 22 August 2026.

The recall is being carried out by Aldi Belgium on behalf of supplier Fruitpackers and in consultation with Belgium’s Federal Agency for the Safety of the Food Chain (FASFC/AFSCA/FAVV).

Consumers who still have the affected product have been advised to return it to an Aldi store for a full refund. A receipt is not required.

Which Aldi courgettes are being recalled?

The warning applies specifically to courgettes sold in packs of two and distributed through Aldi stores in Belgium.

The affected product carries lot number 100320823962, GGN 4059883388428, ANC/EAN 2007030054919 and GTIN 2130170000000. The identified sales period ran from 10 August to 22 August 2026.

The recall does not amount to a withdrawal of every courgette sold by the supermarket. Customers should compare products they have at home with the identifying information provided in the recall notice.

Excessive heptachlor level prompted withdrawal

The product was removed from sale because testing identified an excessive level of heptachlor, a pesticide. The food safety warning advises consumers not to eat courgettes from the affected batch.

Heptachlor is an organochlorine insecticide whose agricultural use has long been heavily restricted. The latest action is therefore being treated as a food-safety recall rather than a routine quality issue.

Aldi tells customers to return affected packs

In its consumer guidance, Aldi Belgium asks customers not to consume the affected product and to take it back to a store.

The company says the purchase price will be refunded in full even when customers no longer have their receipt. Consumers seeking further information can contact Aldi Belgium’s customer service.

The Aldi courgette recall was initiated in consultation with the Belgian food safety agency and on behalf of Fruitpackers, according to the published recall information.

Previous Belgian recalls involving heptachlor

This is not the first time heptachlor residues have resulted in produce being withdrawn in Belgium. In September 2024, Aldi recalled a separate batch of organic courgettes after analysis detected heptachlor. That earlier recall concerned a different lot, product identification and sales period.

Aldi
