Ukraine states it is not obligated to honor Russia’s Victory Day truce.

Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a ceasefire for Friday and Saturday during the scaled-down World War II Victory Day parade in Moscow, which now includes only marching troops. This event is important for the Kremlin. Moscow warned of a severe response if Ukraine targets the parade, threatening a massive missile strike on Kyiv’s center if any disruption occurs.

In response, Ukrainian President Zelenskyy stated that the Kremlin fears Ukrainian drones could interfere with the parade and noted that Moscow has not formally requested a ceasefire from Kyiv. Zelenskyy proposed a rival truce for Tuesday and Wednesday, urging Russia to adhere to it for its ceremony’s safety.

Zelenskyy mentioned Ukraine would reciprocate based on Russia’s media and social media appeals for a ceasefire during the parade, and criticized the ongoing violence as incompatible with public celebrations. He accused Russia of 1,820 ceasefire violations, including shelling and air attacks.

The Russian defense ministry reported multiple attacks on Ukraine on Tuesday and accused Ukrainian forces of targeting areas in Russia and occupied Crimea.

Oh, look at this diplomatic dance! How charming that a truce is offered like a half-hearted invitation to a dinner party no one wants to attend. 🍽️💤

Just what we needed, another truce proposal! It’s like a game of musical chairs, except the music’s a bit heavy on the missiles. 🎶💣

Seems like someone’s trying to play chess while the rest of us are still figuring out checkers. 🤷‍♂️ A truce just for a parade? How very… festive. 🎉

Seems like someone’s trying to play chess while the rest of us are just trying to survive a game of checkers. Classic move, eh? 🥴

Just what we needed, a truce proposal during a parade—because nothing says “peace” like marching troops and missile threats. 🎉 Who knew diplomacy could be so… festive?

Looks like someone’s trying to throw a party without sending out the invites—classic Russian move, eh? 🎉 Meanwhile, Zelenskyy’s just keeping the dance floor clear of any unwanted guests. 🕺💥

Looks like the Kremlin’s trying to throw a party, but Ukraine’s RSVP is a hard no. 🎉💣 Maybe next time, Vlad, just send an actual invitation instead of a threat!

Just what we needed, a ceasefire offered by the parade director himself! 🎉 Nothing screams “I care” like a truce during a military show-off—next up, a peace treaty during the Eurovision! 😏

Seems like both sides are playing a game of “who blinks first” while the rest of us grab popcorn. 🎭 Maybe next year they can just send each other Hallmark cards instead?
